Article plan- winter blues

Article Planning Sheet- winter blues
Plan the language use of the primary code of your article in the box below.

Article target audience: 16-24

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
This article will be a factual narrative, that will consist of a true story about the seasonal disorder and the treatments that are available.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
This article will be produced in 1st and 2nd person. I think this is more suitable for the target audience to be able to understand and this will make them feel more part of the story.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
My article will be both informal and formal, it will be informing the target audience on the disorder however it will be putting it off less formal so that the target audience are interested and don’t get put off by the serious tone of the article. I think that the target audience will be able to relate better to the disorder if it is put across in a less formal way. I will be using slight colloquial language e.g. slang so that it is more appropriate than if I was using it for an essay.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
I will be using a rhetorical question for my sub-heading to my article. I find this is appropriate as the readers will have to read the article in order to find out whether the have the disorder. This may entice more readers instead of putting them off because they would be interested and feel involved in the article if it relates to them or a particular close friend or family member.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
The tone of the article will be serious but positive. It will include colloquial language so there will be less formal language used to reduce the serious tone. Obviously the disorder is serious in some conditions but I want the target audience to satisfied with the treatments that are explained and are available.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
The structure of the article will be quick paced so that the readers are instantly enticed to the article, this is more likely to attract the target audience to be a consistent buyer of the magazine.
It will consist of 6 paragraphs to shorten the amount of text that the article will consist, therefore this would be less likely to put the audience off reading the magazine.
